DATASET NAME: Miranda DATASET OWNER’S NAME AND CONTACT: Andy Cook (awcook@llnl.gov) DATASET DIMENSIONALITY: Seven 3D scalar fields DATASET DIMENSIONS: 384x384x256 x: 384 (fastest varying) y: 384 z: 256 (slowest varying) PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION OF THE DATASET: DOMAIN: x, y, z VARIABLES: density pressure (*) viscosity (*) diffusivity (*) velocityx velocityy velocityz (*) These three variables are unfortunately mislabeled and in fact correspond to three different fields needed to restart Miranda, each of which is a time derivative of a certain quantity. For consistency with several publications in which they have previously been used, these fields appear here with their (incorrect) legacy names. For further details, please contact Peter Lindstrom (pl@llnl.gov). DATA NATURE: IEEE-754 FLOATING POINT ENDIAN FORMAT (LITTLE, BIG): LITTLE PRECISION (DOUBLE, SINGLE): DOUBLE Further description: The fields correspond to a subdomain of an early time step of a Rayleigh-Taylor instability direct numerical simulation run on a 3,072^3 uniform grid. The initial conditions are a slightly perturbed planar interface between two fluids of relative density 1 and 3. The chosen subset contains the mixing layer between the two fluids. The data set is named after LLNL's radiation hydrodynamics simulation code Miranda that generated it.
