DATASET NAME: CESM ATM DATASET OWNER’S NAME AND CONTACT: http://vis.computer.org/vis2004contest/data.html ARRAY DIMENSION: 3D Dimension Sizes: 100x500x500 Highest dimension (slowest-changing dimension): 100 Lower dimension: 500 Lowest dimension (fastest-changing dimension): 500 DATA NATURE (INTEGER or DECIMAL): DECIMAL PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION OF THE DATASET (DIMENSION 1: TIME, DIMENSION 2: SPACE X, DIMENSION 3: SPACE Y, DIMENSION 4: TEMPERATURE, …: Simulation of the ISABEL Hurricane. ENDIAN FORMAT (LITTLE or BIG): little-endian PRECISION (DOUBLE or SINGLE): single-precision More description: The whole dataset has 48 time steps (snapshots), each involving 13 fields. We just put the last snapshot (i.e., snapshot 48, generally with the lowest compression ratio) in the benchmark. Since some fields (such as CLOUDf and QCLOUDf) have very large value ranges while most of the data are very small (close to 0), they are better to be visualized using log-scale instead of the original-scale. In this case, it is also better to compress them using log-scale, so we also put the log-scale dataset for these fields in the benchmark, for usre's convenience of testing the compression quality. The corresponding data are stored in SDRBENCH-Hurricane-ISABEL-100x500x500_log.tar.gz. The files whose filenames are with 'log10' contain the data in log scale.
